Freel Farms

Field with rows of young green rye sprouts in soil under blue sky.

Freel Farms is a third-generation farm that combines cattle and crop enterprises within our operation. In recent years, we have produced a variety of crops as part of our rotation: potatoes, alfalfa, barley, teff grass, different cover crop mixes, and most recently, rye and Kernza. Our herd of 80-head cow-calf enjoys the benefits of pasture grazing in the summer, then rotational grazing and mixed rations in the winter. Freel Farms continues to grow through the generations by emphasizing the family in family farm.

Soil health is an important part of our operation. Working in the sandy soils of Mosca presents unique challenges for soil health, which is why Freel Farms is constantly implementing new practices and techniques to provide soil health solutions that align with our operation's goals. From rotational grazing to cover cropping, our operation thrives on the belief that there is no single solution when it comes to soil health.
